I have the impression that sometimes music is left aside at the expense of image, or shock or any other value, people get mindblowed by what it is not supposed to be the main ingredient in an album. This happens in here, pretty much overrated, and I think the praise comes more assented in shock value and sexual identifications not music per se. Xiu Xiu in the same label and also declared homosexual presented a more solid, disturbed and potentially transgressive albums, memorable. I heard so much praise about this. And the back up was funded on some videos with incredibly plastic images and effects, pretty similar in form to the artwork inside the album. In deep, this album sounds a lot like an exercise, or an investigation into sound. And it is quite interesting the textures or the morphed sequences in the tracks, but the dynamic is pretty much devoid of direction or structure, it goes almost into a rhythmless prototype for a strange hip-hop scheme background. "Baron libre" worked out similar paths, but summed up an structure, his league with rhythm and construction made something crazy and memorable. His affiliation with hip-hop and this crazy sounds and organic sounds was quite something. But what you can remember after downing into this texturized organic like ambient? Apart from the crazy sounds and textures there is nothing much to remember, maybe the artwork? But, this is about music mainly, and what Arca presents here is nothing but exercises that could be the foundation for backgrounds or album cues.

Its worth pointing out that all images of this "unnumbered" issue only shows the back of the poly bag. The numbering was placed on the front of the black bag which is not pictured&only a numbered version of this set was reportedly released so buyer beware of these $200+ listings

Quphagie
honestly, I think the numbered one is the one that went into retail and this is a friends and family type of release. so, they're basically the same.(I bought one directly from Mute staff today)

Agamaginn
Solid minimal analog ambient LP. Some great original sounds Alejemdro gets in there. The artwork inside is gorgeously creepy, like the cover.

I think, every Arca release so far is a revelation. And this first 'official' is no exception. Less abstract Hiphop elements, more IDM, if you want a classification, but its still different. Its dramatic, interesting, complex, breathtaking, pathetic and yes...so incredible sexy !! For me, this is one of the most erotic albums ever.

This release took me a few listens to fully grasp. Its haunting yet beautiful at the same time. Arca acts fearless and releases his most inaccessible album to date. with every listen the album becomes clearer and makes it so much more rewarding in the end. Alejandro Ghersi is in his own lane and its no wonder why everything he touches from Yeezus to FKA Twigs becomes so critically acclaimed. Keep him on your radar, Arca is nothing less than extraordinary.
