Hulbine
Mobilee co-founder Anja Schneider travels BEYOND THE VALLEY for her debut, hinting at some tribal xylophone tones on "Safari," while "Mole" pops up for a more minimal experience. A few voices punctuate the title track, and "Gimlet" returns us to spare, jacking instrumentals. "Cascabel" dances along on its melodic line, the "Belize" throbs with an understated energy. The slower and deeper "Get Away," with a vocal sample that slinks in and disappears like a sleepy cat, but "Little Red Riding Hood" brings the energy back up with a solid groover. The closing track, "Fish at Night," returns to a slower tempo, and with questionable lyrics, but its sensuousness is undiminished. Solid, if ultimately unremarkable.
