This album was recorded by a 'stripped down' version of Peter's live band, a trio of - Peter Frohmader (basses, tapes), Rudi Haunreiter (drums, etc.; ex-Sparifankal and Embryo) and Till Obermeier (guitar, horn; ex-Sparifankal and Missus Beastly), with Jürgen Jung (voice on two cuts). I don't know what Rudi and Till were doing in Sparifankal (an average political rock/protest song group), based on their incredible musicianship on this album, they were certainly wasting their talents.Peter himself describes the music thus - "Avant-Garde music - consistent, uncompromising, radical and wilful. Polyrhythm - polyharmony - dark and hypnotic", which is true, except that this is basically a rock album - unconventional of course, I wouldn't want it any other way! Most of the album is very intense, with almost psychic interplay between the three musicians. Take for instance - Neutronen-Symphonie, which is unbelievably Heavy, imagine Guru Guru's Der LSD Marsch fused with King Crimson's Fracture, with the atmosphere excessively electric, and literally splattered with solo's, Peter's bass is undoubtedly inspired by that of Jannick Top (though the music bears no resemblance to Magma) and Rudi's drums are very expressive and intricate.Of course, because of this album's pure intensity, you (like me) may find it initially hard to get into; but persist, it's well worth it!by Alan & Steve Freeman, first published in Audion 1 (1986)
