Modred
Anthony Rother puts on his Little Computer People guise for some electropop on his album... ELECTRO POP. I suppose it makes sense. And if the music is a little bit of a throwback to the early 80s, that's all part of the plan. The vocoders on "Eyes" complement the staggered chords, while the title track burbles on the dancefloor. "Follow the Leader" goes deeper and more spare, and "I Am" sounds like a sex robot gone haywire. "Pop Music" sounds nothing like what you'd hear on the radio. Rother manages to squeeze a little more Detroitian emotion out of "Who Do You Love" and the long, "Friends Are Not Electric," and it's on these tracks that the little computer people seem more alive than ever.

Wow! Simply stunning. I hear a lot of electronic music, with a lot of albums coming in my door, and this one instantly jumped out and grabbed me. I had Rother's DVD release before this so I knew to expect good things, but this polished album surpassed all expectations. As of now I am a die-hard Rother fan. Track 4 is simply one of the best electronic songs ever written. Meld Kraftwerk with an electro anthem and modernize it and you get this. The melody is absolutely mind-blowing as the underlying waves wash over you and perfectly meshed layers creep in. Speechless. The other biggie for me is track 2, which gives a brief biography of Rother in the lyrics. Like the emotional bits on the DVD, this further highlights how much heart he puts into all his music. Also great are track 1, 3 and the epic journey 11. My only complaint is some of the unmentioned tracks are a tad weak, but really only in comparison to the unbeatable tracks. Hunt down this CD now!

"Little Computer People" once was a wide-spread simulation game on the commodore 64. Today it stands for another pseudonym by german electro-god Anthony Rother. This project reflects the more happier, more commercial electro tunes he does, more than often falling back to good old chiptune-melodies. This album is a must-have for both electro music fans and commodore fans..
