Notes
In the last stanzas of these two poems, Sally Hamlin makes use of a vocal technique known as "sprechstimme" or "sprechgesang" to harp accompaniment, a half-spoken, half-sung kind of vocalizing used extensively by composer Arnold Schoenberg in his vocal works, none of which had been recorded at the time this record was made. This is very likely the first use of the technique in a commercial recording.
