The rave around this release is without basis, I can not hear something original in here as this sounds just like a kind of pop-ish mating between 90's Pete Namlook for the house-ambient parts and The Cinematic Orchestra for the jazzy parts.

Taking "Argenté" as a coincidental point of reference, I assume that one must perhaps cherish and relate with nostalgia to the universes of "Blade Runner" and "Mass Effect" in order to appreciate it. This then literally fades into "Thin Air", with delicate grooves appearing. Also, why is it necessary to pit all of these artists against each other?

Unimpressive. Really don't understand just what the hype is about. We've seen much more convincing examples of jazz-influenced electronics, Cobblestone Jazz or Jan Jelinek, just to name a few. Considering all the hype, to me this release is extremely overrated.

Comparing Floating Points with Cobblestone Jazz is like comparing David Beckham's brain (Cobblestone.. ) with Einstein's.

I must be very very unlucky, side B plenty of clicks and pops, c'mon what's wrong with pressing quality these days..... The release is simply spectacular!

Same here, love the album but both sides clicks and pops etc... Optimal let me down on this one, and Kuiper too. No pressing plant can do it right 100% of the time though I guess.

Rocky Basilisk
The live drums seem lost in the mix - or poorly recorded - to me.

Are you kidding? The drums were recorded excellently. Dynamic and punchy, especially the kick drum (which isn't something you hear often in modern music), subtle when they need to be, loud and lively in other passages. On a track like "For Marmish", it seems like they're meant to be in the distant background of the track, meshing with the electronic beat without clashing in any way. In the last track, they sound excellent and crisp, and get appropriately louder as the song progresses. The overall timbre of the drums fits the mood of the album perfectly too. This is how drums should be recorded.Granted I don't know how the vinyl sounds, if that's what your referring to.
