Back in '89 there weren't too many 'real albums' out there in the electronic genre and this was certainly it. Paradise is my favorite track.

The point of being 'above thirty' is that you'll certainly carry good memories with you. It's like remembering the year of 1989 when I was still a teenager on a French school and a great friend of mine, Sylvain 'Gazza' Justum brought me Inner City's "Paradise" LP. The mélange between the soulful atmosphere and futuristic-sophisticated sounds from synthesizer lines & the drum sequencers got straight into my mind, and I just couldn't stop listening to the WHOLE LP every-single-day. I guess the same situation happened with many young kids at that time - it was like the official anthem of the year 1989 had been released! The tunes were so emotional, delicate and different from anything I have heard before... So intense, so unique, that I really don't know if we'll ever be able to be surprised again by such a magnificent kind of music. Kevin Saunderson's synthesizer timbres and Paris Grey's vocals had no parallel anywhere else in the whole World. They broke with the traditional paradigms on the dance music Universe and brought a sophisticated, soulful-futuristic perspective that influenced an incredible amount of producers later (just remember the synth lines timbres on U.R. 001 - "Your Time Is Up", for example). "Paradise" LP is much more than "Big Fun" and "Good Life". For many people, it was the mark zero for the Detroit Sounds, as some of the hits were played on the main clubs, and even on the radios. Above all, it was perhaps the album that consolidated the range of the Techno music on the bigger audiences Worldwide.

An amazing work of art in every way shape and form. Paris Greys vocals are as strong as Kevin Saunderson's production skills. Was an amazing 'crossover' for house music as tracks were played on most major R&B stations across America. Timeless and classic record and should be in any house or techno collection.
