Tommy Vance once described Robert John Godfrey as "one of the greatest composers this country has ever produced" and he wasn't wrong. Here we have six pieces, each one a portrait of one member of the band, all beautiful examples of classical, symphonic prog as it should be. Everyone will have their own favourites; mine 'Sanctus' and the wonderful 'The Dreamer' representing, as they do, co-founders Robert John Godfrey and Francis Lickerish respectively. Broad, sweeping swathes of sound wash over the listener at every turn, mixed with pomp and emotion enough to cause a moistening of the eye. And here you get the last track as it should be, not split into two as on the later Japanese CD issues where they call the opening percussion 'Part1', which it never was.Lie back and enjoy the sweeping majesty as the album reaches its climax; simply beautiful.
