If you've ever wondered what a starburst sounds like, well the answer may be found in this track which just pefectly fits the melody I was willing to hear as far as this spatial phenomenon is concerned. This epic and driving piece of music will take you into the depths of space with its fantastic melodic arrangement. Thomas Bronzwaer and Paul Moelands were on fire and did not fail to deliver quite an unexpected piece of warm and driving trance. The lead part is full of suspense as well as of a deep melody. No long after that comes an amazing break that gave me goosebumps from the very first listen. Unbelievable as it is this melody has never sounded so original to my ears and I'd be amazed to hear anyone saying it's somewhat boring! The track itself is truly deep and still not too soft to played in clubs. This track definitely belongs to the timeless classics of trance.

Starburst is perhaps the better of these two wonderful tracks. My first memory of this song dates to 2004, from a mix by a Chicago DJ that was played over the radio. Then, I didn't know the song's name and it was only a couple years ago that I rediscovered this beaut. Uniting with this song once again was so rewarding, that it is absolutely worth writing a review. Thomas Bronzwaer (Arizona) and Paul Moelands (Octagen) were rightfully catapulted into high status because of this one, whether because it has a very dense, warm feel or its melodies and rich basslines are so appropriate for a club. This song has some intense key moments, such as its vast and ever expanding breakdown that fills the room and then suddenly takes you on a trip, as if each one of the melody's notes will physically change your direction. It won't overwhelm you, but my warning is that it will put you in a deep trance! Sweeps, deep and monotonous pads, and other intricate details consistently swim beneath the main melody of this song, giving it a lush and relaxed personality, with a theme that focuses on all things astronomical and galactic. Profound offers a notably different perspective compared to Starburst. The bassline is fierce and the mood is generally darker, but it is no less interesting or daring than Starburst. 5/5 for both songs.

If you only get hold of one record on Captivating Sounds, this should be it. In the euphoric euro trance stakes, 'Starburst' is right up there with the likes of 'Schöneberg' by Marmion and 'Neurodancer' by Wippenberg. In terms of Dutch style euro club trance, 'Starburst' is as good as it gets. The beats are boshing but well produced, and the usual Dutch excesses are restrained. The key here though is the breakdown and subsequent build up and release that will put a huge grin on any clubbers face and unite any dancefloor into euphoric mayhem. This is probably the best Armin van Buuren style trancer ever - yes, even better than 'Blue Fear'!
