Recorded and mixed at Fort Apache except tracks 4 and 9, which were mixed at Q Division, and tracks 1, 7, 11, and 13, which were recorded and mixed at Hi-N-Dry.

Original drummer Jerome Deupree was replaced by Billy Conway during the recording of this album.

A little known fact: this was licensed from Ryko by a small label in Brazil (Natasha, Natascha, or Natacha??) and pressed on vinyl. Copies are next to impossible to find (I've seen maybe 3-4 pop up on eBay in the last 15 years), so if anyone has one for sale, PLEASE let me know. Someone REALLY needs to reissue this on vinyl as I am not a fan of Brazilian pressings.Also, kudos to the review below. Pretty much on the money. I would say that "Yes" is on par with this album, and "Like Swimming" is not far behind. Mark Sandman was truly a genius and died doing what he loved - on stage to boot. In my opinion, Morphine is one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time.

My favorite album of 1993. This will make just about anyone a huge fan of Morphine and their addictive flavoring in their songs. The best thing here is the consistency; unlike Good, Cure For Pain is almost completely solid from start to finish, while simultaneously even more creative than anything they previously recorded. The production is great, and the songs are easily digestible but also complex enough to want to listen to again and again. Buena and Candy are all-around perfect songs, I'm Free Now, All Wrong, and Let's Take A Trip Together are all really chill, and Cure For Pain itself is perhaps Morphine's defining song, and also one of their very best, with Sandman's emotion coming together in touching vocals and Dana's sax-playing (coupled with an amazing solo) at its best. Thursday and Mary are pure fun with very fast speed and funny storytelling. Sheila isn't the best album closer, but these songs are good enough to stand alone anyway. Except the intro and outro, which are needless fillers that are only really there to add track numbers to an already perfect album. This album is probably Morphine's best, as close as they could get to a true "cure" for pain, anyway.
