"Honey Reel" is some futuristic sounding business, you can hear all the influences that Metro Area have had, but this time it's rolled into something that's much more difficult to pinpoint stylistically. A very beautiful track indeed! "Rhythm Reel #6" is a rhythm track, inspired by the 80's rhythm records of nothing but drum machines and synth lines used for mixing with other records to easily segue from disco track to disco track. This kind of thing is how house music was invented! This one is very Trax/Chicago influenced, think Virgo Go Wild Rhythm Trax. "Things Fall" is a slow boogie number that winds up this diverse EP on a more relaxed note. This kind of stuff is some of my favorite music, reminiscient of an instrumental from an early 80's R&B record. Overall an excellent and diverse EP from the Metro Area boys....

Honey Circuit is the prototype new boogie sound. Everything you need is here. The synth lines jump out at you. Everything is balanced, point and counterpoint, call and response. Tech and funk. Not to mention the flute solo. I mean, how rad is that. Then there's Things Fall. Rhythm guitar, cowbell, synth bass, saxophone, chirpy lead synth lines. So many rubbery vintage sounds and rhythms bouncing off each other it's like listening to the Harlem Globetrotters practicing in slow motion.

ok, its a metro area release, and indeed it sounds nice. i like that style, but you have to say...its always the same...nothing new, all the last environ release sounds nearly the same. since metro area 3 i feel a little bit bored. so i still have this release and like to hear it cruising around in the sun, cause itsl well produced, but a little inspiration the next times please. still one of the greatest labels :-)

"Honey Circuit" leads off at 45 RPM and spread over a full A-side of wax. Chock full of sonic detail and suspenseful arrangements, this track has the bassline and rhythm to slam the dance floor and the musical hooks to lock in minds, including unusual vocal lines sensually executed by Wanda Felicia. "Rhythm Reel #6" is a deep DJ mix tool that hearkens back to the pioneering rhythm track records that are dear to the duo's hearts. Closing the B-side out, "Things Fall" is a midtempo cosmic jam that conveys a chugging, hypnotic groove while maintaining musical twists that will arouse even the most jaded headphone junkie. The jacking rhythm, Detroit-meets-R&B chords and a horn section led by UK hotshot Graeme Blevins make this track unique, riding the fine line between raw floor function and pure listening bliss.
