The Ae remix on this is abstracted and difficult to ignore - which makes it a favourite of mine with its staccato style and very well flowing structure. It is cooly melancholic amidst all its frenetic output and there is depth and dimension added to the tried and tested DnB moods, one of which resides on the flip side of this 12". This remix is an early blast of the minimalist hardcore to come in later Ae LPs and seems to get overlooked often enough. I would say that this remix is a classic slice of Autechre doing what they do best - mutating music out of all recognition and still being true to the angle presented in the 'host' genre.

So do the Autechre one! This is in my opinion the best autechre track from the 1995-1999 period! Played at 33RPM, it feels as one of the best structured modern jazz drum solo from 1962-1965 reprised by a drummer like Bruce Ditmas! Amazing and very musical.

I haven't heard the originals to see how much they have been altered, but the remixes are both outstanding. A must have for those interested in brilliant idm and/or dark atmospheric jungle. The Klute remix actually plays very well at 33 or 45 rpm!!

The Autechre mix on this elevates it to a "5" all the way. Only Autechre could manage to make glitch madness and frantic beats while maintaining a moody, melancholy ambience. I should feel tense, but instead the delicate synths put me in a contemplative frame of mind.

Actually, I take most of that back - the Autechre mix is more subtle, not that repetitive and actually very good. The Klute mix wins on points though.

Klute fares much better than Autehre on this 12" - the Warp stalwarts deliver a fuzzzy, clanking and repetitive slie of IDM while Klute's dark and imaginative rework is much more engrossing and focussed.
