I won't front like I'm old enough to have been around since the many years back when Cottonwoodhill dropped but I can say I loved Cottonwoodhill so much that it made me check out the rest of their discography - and this recent album feels like what the group has been trying to make since Psychonaut. The emphasis on a more rock-oriented sound and electronic improvisation and synth experimentation were all abundantly present starting with Celestial Ocean but that release along with Advenutre, Voyage, and Alchemic Universe all felt like they were missing structure and planning making them feel sporadic in quality and ultimately awkward releases.Past Present & Future is the coming together of ideas Brainticket layed out over the course of 40 years and is an awe-inspiring way for the once legendary Krautrock group to make a triumphant return.

It's a pretty swell album! It's obviously not quite as fantastic as Cottonwoodhill, (it's impossible to top that monster of a record, I'm sure) but It features a lot of beautiful soundscapes and great instrumentation. It's not quite as challenging a listen as most Brainticket fans may be accustomed to but it's still very much worth hearing. Brainticket fans, rejoice! This is a worthy album to add to their discography. I hope Vandroogenbroeck lives forever.
