"HURRICANE BAR" By MANDO DIAO Are Everything Anyone Could Possibly Want In A Classic Rock CD/Album. However, MANDO DIAO Are Not Classic...They're Too Young (Which Is A Good Thing!! But, Hopefully They Will Be Around Long Enough To Become A Classic!) MANDO DIAO Hail From The Same Period As The "Neo-Garage Rock" Sound Which Became So Popular In The Early To Mid-2000's (& Done Right Is Continuing In 2015)! It Seems Countries Other Than The U.S. And Great Britain Are More Interested In Keeping Rock 'N Roll Alive & Kickin' In 2015 & Beyond. These Bands Are MANDO DIAO (Which, I Am Hoping, In Swedish; I Need To Look It Up, Means "Best Of The Best") And The Hives (Sweden), Black Box Revelation (Belgium) And The Now Defunct Jet (Australian); Although It Is My Secret Wish That Jet Just Packed Their Suitcases And Left America To Go Back To An Australian Music Circuit Which Still Loves Garage Rock. Now, The U.S. And Great Britain Haven't Completely Forsaken It. The Greatest City In The World (New York City, U.S.) Gave Us The Strokes And The Libertines Answered The Call In Great Britain. The Difference Is, According To One Music Critic Review I Read & Agree With: "MANDO DIAO Took The Time Listening To The Great's Of The 60's, Then Honed And Refined Their Craft Before Releasing A CD/Album: Something The Strokes And Libertines Should Have Done!"In Just One Listen To MANDO DIAO'S "HURRICANE BAR", The Strokes and Libertines Pale In Comparison, Sounding Undistilled/Like A Bar Band In Comparison, While MANDO DIAO Sound Raw & Powerful, Yet As Smooth As Liquid Velvet!!!MANDO DIAO'S 1st, "Bring 'Em In" Sounds More Strokes' Influenced. By "HURRICANE BAR" MANDO DIAO's an Earthquake Erupting, Announcing MANDO DIAO Will Take It From Here & Take It All!! What A Beautiful Sound It Is, Having A Band Once More With 2 Lead Vocalists Who Know How To Harmonize!!! MANDO DIAO Are Crisp And Tight; Nothing Is 'Off'. Each & Every Song Here Is A Gem!! There Hasn't Been An Album Like This In Decades!!! Particular Favorites Are "Added Family", "God Knows", "Down In The Past" & "Clean Town". To Listen To MANDO DIAO Is To LOVE MANDO DIAO!!! I Just Received "Aelita" & One Song In Particular Is A 14-K Standout! You'll Know Which Song As Soon As You Hear It!! I Got The CD, But Go For Vinyl: The Artwork Is The Most Spectacular I've Ever Seen! (I'll Do A Separate Review For That CD & I'm Awaiting "Ode To Ochrasy"). My Only Concern Is, "Aelita" & One I Haven't Heard Yet, But Read Other Reviews On, "Never Seen The Light Of Day" Are COMPLETELY Divergent Musical Styles From Their Other Releases. "Aelita" Sounds More 80's and Electropop Inspired, Akin To New Order & Early Depeche Mode. I Don't Know If MANDO DIAO All Have A.D.D. (Which Seems Unlikely!) Are Flexing Their Creative Juices, Or If They're "Trying On" Rock Styles, Which If That's The Case, Expect A "Metal" MANDO DIAO Next!...Which Would Really Be Too Bad Because I Think They Hit A Home Run With "HURRICANE BAR": About As Perfect An Album As Can Be Had, And I, For One, Am Hoping They Will Soon Revisit & Make That Their 'Signature' Sound!! (Although I Must Add, Whichever Sound They Are Using, They Do Each Of Them Masterfully!!) MANDO DIAO'S THE REAL DEAL!!!!!!
