Although issued in 1984, Love Songs Are Back Again is like a time capsule buried a decade earlier. A proud, vividly etched reclamation of the harmony soul sound so popular during the early '70s, the album exists somewhere between the sublime and the stupid, stitching together over-the-top ballad medleys with so much earnest conviction that one can't help but succumb to its dizzily romantic charms. If the concept of a long, saccharine medley that combines "Every Little Bit Hurts," "If You Don't Know Me by Now," and "What the World Needs Now" sounds like something you'd expect to hear while twisting on a barbecue spit in the depths of Hell, then Band of Gold isn't quite the group for you. They're as unapologetically starry-eyed as an Up with People halftime show but infinitely more soulful, and for listeners who find Barry White just a bit too threatening, Love Songs Are Back Again is mandatory kissy-face music. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi Read more: http://www.answers.com/topic/love-songs-are-back-again#ixzz1wO2VVktD
