Rainstick Orchestra combines two of my favorite musical influences: Japanese musicians and the quality control of Ninja Tune. The resulting music is outstanding and very artistic in nature. Rainstick Orchestra subscribes to the idea of music being borderless, and it is definitely hard to pin down exactly what style they are. They have done quite a good job of making their own style with a unique flavor and playfulness. The live instrumentation really adds a warmth to the production sound that is missing from many modern computer music albums. Although the tracks are somewhat strict in their rythmic composition, there is also clearly an improvisational jazz influence, with positive effect. The Floating Glass Key In The Sky is an instant classic that can be listened to many times without any loss of enjoyment.
